In the event of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will prevail.
Eligibility Criteria
Renting a vehicle with us requires:
- To rent a vehicle from Car Hire in Laindon, you must be at least 21 years old, although age restrictions may differ based on the vehicle type, and additional fees may apply for drivers under 25. A valid full driving licence specific to the vehicle category is required, along with identification and proof of current address. Valid payment details and a security deposit are necessary, as well as any further criteria outlined in the Rental Agreement.
3. Reservations and Payments
- Reservations can be made via our website, by telephone, or directly at our Laindon office. A deposit may be necessary to confirm your booking. The total payment and security deposit are generally required upon vehicle pickup. All prices are displayed in British Pounds (£) and include VAT where applicable. We accept major credit and debit cards, processed securely with trusted payment providers.
Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- At the time of vehicle collection, it is important to conduct a thorough inspection and report any pre-existing damage without delay. A vehicle condition report will be filled out and signed. Please return the vehicle in the same state as it was collected, allowing for normal wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated, and charges may apply accordingly. Ensure that the vehicle is returned with the same fuel level as at collection; refueling fees will be incurred if the fuel level is lower. Late returns may result in additional fees, so please inform us promptly if you anticipate a delay. You will also be responsible for any parking fines, traffic violations, or charges accrued during the rental period, as well as an administration fee.
Insurance and Liability Terms

Additional insurance options can be obtained to minimize your financial liability. It is advisable to review these options thoroughly. You remain liable for any damage or loss up to the insurance excess, unless you have opted for extra coverage. Any damage resulting from negligence, misuse, or violation of these Terms remains your responsibility, regardless of existing insurance.
Cancellation and Modifications
Cancellation and amendment policies differ based on the type of booking and the notice provided. For precise information, consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Please be aware that late cancellations or no-shows may incur additional fees.
7. Restricted Activities
Prohibited Uses of the Vehicle
- Use of the vehicle for any unlawful activities is prohibited. This includes racing, rallying, off-roading, or engaging in any dangerous maneuvers. Transporting hazardous materials is not allowed. Sub-letting the vehicle or permitting unauthorized drivers is forbidden. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is strictly prohibited. The vehicle must be used only for its intended purpose, and all passenger and weight limits should be adhered to. Driving outside the specified geographical boundaries requires prior approval.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental cancellation and extra fees.
8. Liability Restrictions
To the fullest extent allowed by English and Welsh law, Car Hire Laindon will not be responsible for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business, resulting from your use of our services. Our overall liability for any claims will not exceed the total amount you paid for rentals in the last 12 months. This limitation does not apply to liability for death or personal injury due to negligence, or for fraudulent actions.

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Disputes will be resolved exclusively within the jurisdiction of English and Welsh courts.
